Code of Programme Standards

The Commission announced its plans to develop a Code of Programme Standards on 7th September 2005. The Code, which was launched on March 27th 2007, took effect on April 10th and applies to all radio and television broadcasters licensed in the State. The Code of Programme Standards addresses the concepts of taste, decency, harm and offence with regard to radio and television broadcasting. It is is provided for under Section 19 of the Broadcasting Act, 2001.
