BCI SIGNS 10 YEAR CONTRACT WITH PHANTOM FM
The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has today (Friday 27th October) signed a ten year sound broadcasting contract with Dublin Rock Radio Ltd. (trading as Phantom FM) for the provision of an alternative rock music service on the FM band to Dublin City and County. The service will broadcast on 105.2FM on a twenty-four hour basis, with a minimum of eighteen hours of live programming daily.
Phantom FM will produce a range of high quality programmes which offer a spectrum of new and classic Alternative Rock. The service is committed to focusing on the promotion of Irish artists, based on the needs of the Irish market and the Irish music industry itself. Phantom FM will also provide a range of news, current affairs and sports coverage as part of its programme output.
Speaking at the contract signing, Conor J. Maguire, Chairperson of the BCI said, “I would like to congratulate Phantom FM on today’s contract signing. In promoting Alternative Rock and targeting a niche market, I believe the station will add significantly to the diversity of services available in Dublin City and County”.
Phantom FM was represented at the contract signing by Trevor Bowen, Director and Gerard Roe, Director and Company Secretary. Conor Maguire, Chairperson of the BCI and Ciarán Kissane, Head of Broadcasting, signed on behalf of the Commission.
The service will commence broadcasting on Tuesday 31st October.
