BCI ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF THIRD FUNDING ROUND FOR 'SOUND & VISION'
The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has today announced details of the third funding round of Sound & Vision, the Broadcasting Funding Scheme. An advertisement in tomorrow’s national press will invite applications from programme makers for funding for new radio and/or TV programmes dealing with the themes of Irish culture, heritage and experience. The Sound & Vision scheme also provides funding for new programmes aimed at improving adult literacy.
The Commission has also announced details of its policy on special schemes funding for 2007. The purpose of the schemes will be to encourage the development of programming on particular themes or to mark major anniversaries or events of particular historic or cultural importance. A key feature of the special schemes will be that funding will be available for projects from conceptualisation through to development and production and that there will be a special emphasis on training and development. It is proposed that annual amounts for this type of initiative will equate to 5% of overall annual funding. Guidelines for accessing funding under the special scheme have been devised by the BCI.
Arising from the implementation of the first two funding rounds of the Scheme, a number of changes have been m ade to the application guidelines and forms. Amended application forms can be downloaded from the BCI website or are available by e-mail from sound&vision@bci.ie.
The closing date for receipt of applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 15th December next for radio and 12 noon on 12th January 2007 for television.
