BCI ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF FOURTH FUNDING ROUND OF SOUND & VISION FOR RADIO
The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has today announced details of the fourth funding round of Sound & Vision, the Broadcasting Funding Scheme, for radio. An advertisement in today’s national press will invite applications from programme makers for funding for new radio programmes dealing with the themes of Irish culture, heritage and experience. The Sound & Vision scheme also provides funding for new programmes aimed at improving adult literacy.
Three previous rounds of Sound & Vision have allocated a cumulative total of €2.1m for radio since the scheme’s inception. Through this funding, 161 new radio programmes in a variety of genres have received support and are being broadcast on public service, commercial and community radio.
Application forms for the current round for radio can be downloaded from the BCI website or are available by e-mail from sound&vision@bci.ie.
Interested parties may also apply for funding under the special schemes mechanism operated by Sound & Vision. The purpose of the schemes is to encourage the development of programming on particular themes or to mark major anniversaries or events of particular historic or cultural importance. Applications under the special schemes are not round specific and further details can be obtained on request from the BCI.
The closing date for receipt of applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 14th May next .
