BCI ANNOUNCES RADIO LICENSING DECISIONS
The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has announced its decision regarding the award of the Midlands/North-East Regional licence, following its board meeting earlier this morning.
The Commission has awarded a ten year licence in principle to i Radio North East & Midlands Limited (trading as i 107FM) for the provision of a new youth-based service for the midlands and north east of Ireland. This service will cover the counties of Louth, Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, Kildare, Offaly, Westmeath and North-East Laois.
The award is subject to the successful outcome of contract negotiations and these are expected to be completed in the coming months.

The Commission received five applications for a youth service in the midlands/north east region, three of which were called to an oral hearing, held in Tullamore Co. Offaly on April 16th last.
