BCI SIGNS TEN-YEAR COMMUNITY LICENCE WITH INISHOWEN COMMUNITY RADIO

 

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has announced the signing of a ten-year community sound broadcasting contract with Inishowen Community Radio Limited for the provision of a community sound broadcasting service on the FM band.  The station will be broadcast on 105FM (Malin) and 107.6(Moville) and will serve the North Inishowen peninsula of Donegal.

Inishowen Community Radio has previously held a five year contract with the Commission and this new contract will facilitate the long term development of the station. Inishowen Community Radio will continue to broadcast 7am to 9pm Mondays, 8am-9pm Tuesday – Friday, 9am to 10pm Saturday and 10am to Midnight Sunday. The station will continue to broadcast a wide variety of music and specialist music.  The station will broadcast 50% music and 50% speech with a mix of news and current affairs, sport and special interest programming.

 

John Waters, Board Member of the BCI, said: “I would like to congratulate Inishowen Community Radio on their contract signing and to wish them every success over the next ten years. I am confident that this service will continue to add to the sense of community in Inishowen and we wish the station every success in the years ahead”.

Inishowen Community Radio was represented at the signing by Directors Paddy Mc Loughlin and Mura Mc Loughlin. John Waters, Board Member and Ciarán Kissane, Head of Broadcasting, signed on behalf of the BCI.
