BCI receives three applications for new community of interest licenses

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has today (May 24th) announced the receipt of one application for each of the three Community of Interest services in the Towns of Athlone, Carlow and Dundalk. The applications were received in response to advertisements placed in the national and regional press on 23rd March last.

All applications submitted to the BCI will be made available for public inspection from Wednesday 1st June next. From that date, they can be viewed on-line at www.bci.ie or by appointment through the Commission´s offices at 2-5 Warrington Place, Dublin 2. The applications will also available at this date for viewing at respective town libraries.
It is anticipated that the first phase of consideration of the applications will commence shortly. The assessment of each application will be guided by the criteria laid down in the Radio and Television Act 1988, the Broadcasting Act 2001, the BCI Community Radio Policy document and the Guide to Submissions issued by the BCI.
