BCI ANNOUNCE DETAILS OF NEW COMMUNITY OF INTEREST SERVICE
IN CORK CITY


The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has today (Tuesday 22nd April) announced details of a new community of interest service for Cork city. Life FM (Cork New Life Media Limited), who are launching their service today, signed a ten-year community of interest sound broadcasting contract with the BCI last month.


Life FM will offer a music-driven service for the Christian community in Cork City, with the aim of reaching various groups, across different nationalities, cultures and Christian backgrounds.  The station will provide a broad range of programmes that will inform, challenge and entertain and will have a music to speech ratio of 70:30.  Life FM will broadcast 24 hours a day with a mixture of live, pre-recorded and repeat programming.


Michael O’ Keeffe, Chief Executive, said: “I would like to congratulate Life FM on the occasion of their official launch and to wish them every success over the term of their licence.  I would also like to thank all involved in the contract negotiation process in bringing this service to fruition.  I am confident that Life FM will contribute to the diversity of services in Cork City”.


Cork New Life Media signed a ten-year community of interest contract with the BCI on March 10th.  They were represented at the signing by Directors Anna Daly and Brian Daly.  Conor Maguire, Chairperson and Celene Craig, Secretary, signed on behalf of the Commission.
