JNLR figures for July 04 - June 05 released

25th August

Results from the JNLR/TNS mrbi survey for the period July 2004 to June 2005 were released today (Thursday August 25th).The survey results demonstrated that 86% of the adult population were listening daily to a mix of national, regional and local radio throughout the country.

These latest JNLR results mark a number of key changes to the information now available to stations, advertisers and interested members of the public. In particular, changes in the level and detail of information available to local stations is facilitated by the larger samples interviewed within local franchise areas since January of this year.

In addition a new weekly reach figure spanning seven days is now available for all stations. Finally the weekend figures for all stations have been made available on the same day as these weekday results.

For the purposes of comparison, the figures presented are measured against comparable figures for the survey period July 2003-June 2004. This will mark the last time that such a comparison will be undertaken. Owing to the increased samples being interviewed, figures will henceforth be compared on a three-month rolling basis.;

Speaking about the changes to the survey, Chief Executive of the BCI Michael O´Keeffe said: "As a member of the JNLR Committee the BCI strongly endorses the enhancement of the survey as presented today. The increase in the samples interviewed, particularly in local franchise areas, is to be welcomed. Not alone does the increase provide a more robust survey and greater demographic information for the stations, the additional material will be particularly useful for the Commission in the context of its radio licensing policy".

Show me full details on the reach and market share figures. A table of weekend figures for all stations is available from the Commission on request.
