BCI INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR NEW SOUTH WEST
REGIONAL RADIO SERVICE

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has today (Tuesday 21st February) placed an advertisement in the national press tomorrow seeking applications from interested persons/ parties for the provision of a youth based regional service in the South West. This service will cover the Counties of Kerry, Limerick , Clare, North Tipperary and South-West Laois.
The service being advertised will provide a mix of speech and music programming of particular relevance to listeners in the 15 – 34 age group in this region. The successful applicant for the service will be awarded a ten year contract.
In order to assist prospective applicants in the drafting of their applications, the BCI’s Guide to Submissions for the Provision of a Regional Sound Broadcasting Service, February 2006, is available on the BCI website, or on request from the BCI offices (email: info@bci.ie or call 01 644 1200).
The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Wednesday 19 th April 2006 . After initial consideration by the Commission, all applications will be m ade publicly available. They will be m ade available for viewing at the BCI’s headquarters, on its website and in Limerick public library, the Granary Building , Michael Street , Limerick .
