COMMISSIONING OFFICERS APPOINTED TO SOUND & VISION

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Robinson and Brian Furey to the positions of Commissioning Officer of the Broadcasting (Funding) Scheme. The scheme is designed to support new television and radio programmes on Irish culture, heritage and experience.

 

Andrew and Brian will be responsible for managing the application and awards processes of the Scheme. They will also play a key role in evaluating applications and recommending awards under the Scheme, in addition to being involved in negotiations with successful applicants.

 

Prior to his appointment as Commissioning Officer, Andrew worked in the Information Section of the BCI. During this time he played a central role in communicating the work of the Commission to external audiences and developed relationships with key members of the broadcasting sector and the media.

 

Brian has worked with the Broadcasting Division of the Commission. His work there enabled him to establish strong links with the broadcasting sector in the areas of training and development, New Adventures in Broadcasting and the Community Radio Support Scheme. Prior to joining the Commission, Brian worked in the local radio and telecommunications sectors.

 

Speaking about the appointments, Michael O’Keeffe, Chief Executive of the BCI said, “The Commission is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew and Brian to the positions of Commissioning Officer. The valuable experience they have gained while working in the Broadcasting Division and Information Section of the BCI will enrich the development of the Broadcasting (Funding) Scheme over the coming years. “
