BCI INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR COMMUNITY

SOUND BROADCASTING SERVICES

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has today (May 25th 2006) placed advertisements in the national and local press seeking applications for the provision of community sound broadcasting services on the FM band in the following areas:

Community

Charleville Town and Environs, Co. Cork

North West Dublin

North East Dublin

North Inishowen Peninsula, Co. Donegal

Shannon Town and Environs, Co. Clare

South West Clare.

The Commission has provided a Guide to Submissions to assist potential applicants in the drafting of their applications. The BCI’s Guide to Submissions, Community Sound Broadcasting Services on the FM Band (Phase Three) is available from the Commission’s headquarters, on its website or on request from the BCI offices (email: info@bci.ie or call 01 6441200).

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 12pm Friday, 21 st July 2006 . After initial consideration by the Commission, all applications will be m ade publicly available.
