BCI SIGNS FIVE-YEAR COMMUNITY RADIO CONTRACT WITH LIFFEY SOUND FM

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has today (11th July) announced the signing of a five-year community sound broadcasting contract with Liffey Sound Communications Co-operative Society Limited (broadcasting as Liffey Sound FM).

 

Liffey Sound FM will broadcast initially for 23 hours per week on weekends only, and will extend their service provision to weekday evenings by October.
The station aims to provide the Lucan community with a broad range of programmes on issues of interest. Liffey Sound FM will facilitate and support community development and will provide access to the media to a wide range of groups within the community, particularly those who are under-represented.

 

Conor J. Maguire, Chairperson of the BCI, said: “I would like to congratulate Liffey Sound FM and to wish them every success over the next five years.
I believe that this new service for Lucan will add a unique community dimension to broadcasting in the area and through its volunteer structure that the station will ensure the involvement of the wider community in all aspects of its service delivery.”


Liffey Sound FM was represented at the signings by Pat Quinn, Chairperson and Padraig McGarrigle, Treasurer and Board Member. Conor J. Maguire, Chairperson and Celene Craig , Secretary to the BCI, signed on behalf of the Commission.
