BCI INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR QUASI-NATIONAL CHRISTIAN AND RELIGIOUS SOUND BROADCASTING SERVICE

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has today (Wednesday 26th July) placed an advertisement in the national press seeking applications from interested persons / parties for the provision of a new quasi-national Christian and religious sound broadcasting service.

 

The service will be broadcast primarily on the AM band with supplemental low power VHF-FM transmitter stations. It will have a broad format and will focus on general religious and Christian affairs of relevance to listeners in the 15+ age group in the State. A ten year contract will be awarded to a successful applicant.

 

In order to assist prospective applicants in the drafting of their submissions, the BCI’s Guide to Submissionsfor the Provision of a Quasi-National Sound Broadcasting Service on the AM Band, July 2006 is available from its headquarters at 2 – 5 Warrington Place, Dublin 2 and on its website.  

 

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 12 noon ,Wednesday 25 th October. All applications received will be made available for inspection by members of the public and the media from Monday 13th November, 2006 . Applications can be viewed from this date at the BCI’s headquarters, on its website and in the public library in the ILAC Centre, Dublin 1.
