Research: Policy & Projects
Projects
An important aspect of the Commission’s research is the establishment of working partnerships with industry, relevant academics, statutory and non-statutory organisations and other interested stakeholders. It is anticipated that a number of projects will be undertaken over the next 12 – 18 months. Projects selected must meet the criteria as set out in the BCI Research Policy .

Policy
The BCI’s research function plays a vital role in supporting the needs of viewers and listeners and the broadcasting sector. Further, it assists the public and stakeholders understanding of the work of the BCI. The research function also has a role to play where the broadcasting sector may not have the time, resources or skills to undertake research.
The Commission’s research;
A key aspect of this work is to enable the Commission to act with an authoritative voice on broadcasting matters and, in particular, to contribute to the debates on Government and public policy broadcasting issues on an ongoing basis.
It is the Commission’s intention that research will underpin all of its policy deliberations and activities, with a view to delivering informed, evidence-based decision-making arising from its statutory functions.
